Remember that everything will be reversed when you apply the heat transfer to the cloth. For that reason, especially if you are working with text, select 'Mirror', 'Flip', or 'Reverse' in your graphics application, so that the image will be printed backwards. If there is no text in your image, you may not have to reverse your image.
Now you are ready to test on a plain piece of paper. Place an pencil mark on the paper and insert it into the printer. This will show you which side of the paper prints. Next, print your image on that sheet of paper. If you are satisfied with the way your image looks, insert a single sheet of iron on transfer paper into your printer. You will be able to tell which side to print on because one side is blank (that is the side to print on), and one side has text or lines.
It is important to get a clear image, so you must go into your printer options and select the highest dpi setting. There may even be pre-set settings in your printer. Here are a few popular printer manufacturers with the selected setting:
* CANON: T-shirt transfers.
* EPSON: High quality glossy paper or special coated paper
* HEWLETT-PACKARD: High quality glossy paper.
* Lexmark: T-shirt transfers.
Next you need to set the paper thickness lever on your printer for standard paper.
Now you may print your iron on transfer image.
After you remove the iron on transfer sheet from your printer, allow the ink to dry. Do not handle the iron on transfer paper while the ink is drying.
